What to Expect After Your Cosmetic Tattoo at Unique Skin and Wellness Clinic
Your appointment may be complete, but achieving the best results from your new cosmetic tattoo continues at home. Proper aftercare is key to beautiful, long-lasting results—20% of the outcome comes from the in-clinic treatment, while 80% depends on your commitment to aftercare.

Brow Tattooing
Day 1: Start with clean hands before touching your brows. Every 2-3 hours, use a clean baby wipe (or damp cotton round) to gently cleanse your brows, pat dry with a clean tissue, and apply a small amount of aftercare cream to each brow.

Day 2 - 14: In the morning, gently wipe your brows with a clean baby wipe (or damp cotton round), pat dry, and apply a small amount of aftercare cream. Repeat this process in the evening.

Healing Process:

  • Your brows will appear darkest during days 1-3, then may become dry, flaky, or patchy. This is normal—avoid picking or scratching, as this can disturb the pigment.

  • It’s common for brows to look uneven or for patches of colour to fade. Remember, this is a process, and it’s normal to feel unsure during these first weeks. Try to avoid judging your brows too soon; healing takes time.

  • Expect the colour to lighten by 30-50% as the skin heals. Over the next 2-3 weeks, the colour may reappear gradually, and some days your brows may look warmer in tone (red/orange). This variation is normal.

Activity Restrictions:
For the first two weeks:

  • Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and sun exposure.

  • You can use makeup, moisturizers, and cleansers, but avoid applying them to the newly tattooed area.

  • Stick to light exercise to minimize sweating around the brows.

Follow-Up Care:
Achieving the best results often requires a touch-up appointment. At 4-6 weeks, we’ll assess how your skin has responded to the initial treatment and perfect the shape and colour as needed. Some clients may require additional touch-ups or maintenance due to factors like skin type, lifestyle, or hormonal changes.

Since each person's skin and lifestyle are unique, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, as healing is ultimately beyond our control. Proper aftercare and maintenance are essential for the best possible results. Your artist will guide you through a customized treatment plan to ensure you achieve beautiful, lasting results.

Advanced Skin Treatments

Before undergoing an advanced skin care treatment with active ingredients, it’s important to prepare your skin for the best results. We recommend avoiding any exfoliating products, retinoids, or other active skincare treatments at least 3-5 days prior to your appointment to minimize the risk of irritation. Make sure to inform your practitioner about any medications or skin conditions you may have, as these can affect how your skin responds to treatment. For advanced facials your skin will need to be appropriately prepped in which your therapist will go over with you during your skin consultation.

After your treatment, your skin may be more sensitive, so it’s crucial to avoid direct sun exposure, intense heat, and strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours. Follow your practitioner’s aftercare instructions closely to ensure optimal healing and to maintain the best results from your treatment.

Waxing and Tinting

Before Care for Waxing and Tinting Services:

  1. Avoid Retinoids: Discontinue the use of retinoid creams or exfoliating acids on the treatment area at least 48 hours before your appointment to prevent skin irritation.

  2. Clean Skin: Ensure your skin is clean and free of makeup, oils, or lotions. This helps the wax and tint adhere better to the skin and hair.

  3. Avoid Sun Exposure: Try to limit direct sun exposure, sunbathing, or tanning for 24-48 hours before your service to reduce the risk of irritation or sensitivity.

  4. Inform of Allergies: Let your technician know if you have any allergies or if you’ve recently had any skin treatments like chemical peels or microdermabrasion.

After Care for Waxing and Tinting Services:

  1. Soothe the Skin: Apply a soothing lotion or aloe vera gel to calm any redness or irritation post-waxing. Avoid touching the area to prevent infection.

  2. Avoid Heat: Refrain from hot showers, steam rooms, or saunas for at least 24 hours, as heat can irritate freshly waxed skin.

  3. No Makeup or Harsh Products: Avoid applying makeup, exfoliants, or strong skincare products (e.g., retinoids, AHAs, BHAs) to the treated area for 24 hours after your service.

  4. Protect from the Sun: Use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ on the treated area, as waxing and tinting can make the skin more susceptible to sun damage.

Chinese Needling

What to expect before, during and after your Chinese Needling (also referred to as Yin Yang Needling) treatment.

Needling is a natural therapy that forms the basis from which all acupuncture has been derived. While we use the same needles as in traditional acupuncture, our diagnostic approach is distinct. Some clients may find the treatment deeply relaxing, even falling asleep, while others might experience a stimulating effect. This variation is entirely based on each individual’s health and current state of balance within the body. During your consultation we need you to be completely honest to ensure we can figure out what is causing your health concern.

Yin Yang Needling is a powerful technique, continuing to work within the body for up to 3 ½ days after each session. Depending on your specific health needs, you may require between 1 to 5 treatments. We are committed to supporting your well-being, and if your concerns fall outside our scope of practice, we will refer you rather than proceed with treatment. As part of a network of caring practitioners, our priority is always doing what’s best for your health.
